Housing Minister Brandon Lewis explained that tenants renting privately in the UK will benefit from a fairer deal, under new measures announced today.
With the aim to provide greater informed choices for those looking to rent in the private sector, Lewis explained that the new initiatives have been developed to support everyone involved in the private rented sector, explaining that “the private rented sector plays a vital role in our housing market, providing a flexible option for millions of people across the country.”
The new code of practice, produced by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, makes clear the legal requirements of landlords and letting agents alike, leaving both in no doubt about their responsibilities to their tenants.
PRS Capital CEO Dean Thompson welcomed the news stating “as a business PRS Capital adhere to strong ethical code of conduct and behave responsibly when providing rental properties. The initiatives today are an initial step in moving the industry forward so that tenants can benefit from tenancy where landlords not only want to profit from their properties, but also create a community for all to enjoy.”
